I offer three levels of editing. The editorial services I offer are tiered by nature and share a certain amount of overlap.
Copyediting works best for a work that is essentially a final draft when it comes to structure, pacing, style, organization, and other elements that would normally see changes earlier in the revision process. Copyediting focuses on grammar, punctuation, language usage, general style usage according to a style guide or other conventions, formatting, and the myriad elements that see a final draft transform into a completed work.
Most self-published authors who feel their book is ready for publication but are concerned about a polished, final version will find this option ideal. For detailed information on rates, how I work with a client and other pertinent information, go here.
2: Line Editing
Line editing purpose is to examine and analyze a text on a line by line basis for consistency, voice, character development, style, language usage, pacing and other elements. Line editing straddles the line between the second draft and publication. Line editing also rests on a foundation of copyediting, and I incorporate the two with the goal of providing a finished work.
It is my personal believe that line editing is probably the best choice for anyone self-publishing. It not only provides the polish and technical finish of copyediting, but also an objective critique and assessment of the all the parts of a work, and guidance in shaping and joining the pieces together so the whole becomes greater than the individual elements. 3: Embracive Editing
Embracive editing is an amplification of line editing. It’s taking a work from first draft and working with you to turn it into a finished product. It’s an all-inclusive process designed to focus first on dealing with developmental and structural issues and then turning towards the steps needed to reach a finished work. This option is aimed at writers that are looking for extensive guidance and collaboration in fine-tuning their work. Best suited for those who have a strong output and creative process but are looking for strong technical and analytical support.
